A lacquer Jingasa bearing the crest of the famous Tokugawa family who were the shoguns of Japan throughout the Edo period.
This hat has definitely been worn. It seems likely that it was a high quality film prop.

A very rare and unusual Japanese lacquered coconut. In this case, golden urushi lacquer has been applied to the wood of the nut. Inside is in nashiji.
The feet appear to be three tagua nuts.
Likely dates to the Meiji period (1868-1904).
Very unusual collector's piece.

The handles are decorated with elephant heads holding the rings, whilst the sides are engraved with phoenixes.
